At a meeting last night of the Suva Rugby Union executive committee, it was agreed to make this weekend’s Suva 7s Series tournament in Lautoka a one-day event – Saturday 12 December.

The number of teams in the main category has thus been capped at 48, with the draw likely to be announced tomorrow (Wednesday).

The reasons behind the change stem partly from a logistics point of view and partly from requests from some clubs that a two-day tournament becomes quite an expense for them as it requires an extra overnight stay.

It is likely that the Suva 7s Series in Labasa will also be a one-day event, on Saturday 9 January 2010.
